tweedmouth brewery

In 2018 THAA were commissioned by the Berwick Community Trust to oversee the renovation, conversion, and development of The Old Brewery in Tweedmouth, for higher education purposes on behalf of Northumberland College.

The Old Brewery is a Grade II listed building and is the northern half of the larger historic brewery complex on Main Street and Brewery Lane.

To achieve the required number of classrooms for the College, the existing roof was raised to create an additional floor with two classrooms and breakout space.

The final design comprised of six classrooms that would accommodate 20 students. A library and digital suite, administration office and two breakout spaces for staff and students.

The project was supported by Northumberland County Council, Historic England, and the Conservation Area Advisory Group.
