PRACTICE

THAA Architects is a forward-thinking, RIBA Chartered architectural practice specialising in contemporary residential and commercial architecture. We create bespoke buildings and spaces that combine design excellence with practicality, delivering architecture that is both beautifully crafted and enduring.

Every project is shaped by a collaborative design process, ensuring each solution responds sensitively to its context while meeting the aspirations of our clients. Our work balances creativity, technical precision and innovation to produce architecture that is elegant, functional and built to stand the test of time.

With studios in Cambridge, Newcastle upon Tyne and Northumberland, we undertake commissions throughout the UK. We provide a comprehensive architectural service across every stage of a project, from feasibility studies and concept design through planning, technical design and construction, together with Principal Designer and project management services.

THAA was founded in 2018 by our Founder and Principal Architect, David Thompson, whose career spans more than 30 years delivering award-winning, landmark residential and commercial projects across the UK and internationally. Having held senior roles within some of the world's most respected architectural practices, David brings exceptional design expertise, technical rigour and a passion for creating timeless architecture of the highest quality. His vision continues to shape every commission undertaken by THAA, ensuring every project is defined by thoughtful design, meticulous attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to excellence.

Sustainability is fundamental to our approach. We adopt a fabric-first philosophy, prioritising low-energy design, high-performance building envelopes and the considered integration of renewable technologies to create buildings that are efficient, comfortable and resilient for the future. Our commitment to sustainable design is reflected in our membership of NaCSBA, the Passivhaus Trust, ASBA and The Green Register.

Whether designing a bespoke home, transforming a listed building or delivering a complex commercial development, our ambition remains the same: to create architecture of lasting quality that enriches the lives of those who experience it.
