church conversion WEST THIRSTON
THAA explored converting a church into a family home. The church is not listed, it does however sit within the village conservation area and is seen as a key landmark.
The building is currently used as a nursery and suffers from a lack of daylight and expensive running costs.
The preferred solution looked to part demolish the single storey off-shot in lieu of a new open plan day room. The new south facing sliding doors would benefit from solar gain and look out onto a new raised garden.
The main church building would be reconfigured due to the insertion of a two storey accommodation block, comprising of bedrooms, bathroom and storage. The upper floor of the block was considered for a gym or home office.
